Dazzling Zelda: The Story of...Zelda Wynn Valdes (HC)

Zelda Valdes grew up watching her grandmother sew and make clothes for her family. In the 1930's she went to work for her uncle's dress-making business in White Plains, New York. Her passion for making clothes took her from seamstress to fashion-designer-to-the-stars.  She conceived of the idea that ballet dancers should wear tights to match their skin tones and much, much more.

Zelda paved the way for Black women to take on lead roles in the world of design.
